A way you can advertise online is to join an online group, called a safelist group.

Safelists are groups of like minded people interested in receiving offers or ads from particular categories. In other words, they are group consisting of opt-in subscribers willing to receive solo offers from the other members, there are certain emailing restrictions imposed by some of these safelists, so make sure you find out what you’re allowed to do and how often. Not all safelists can guarantee success, you will need to do a little homework with the safelist you choose in order for it to be worth its while.

  • Decide on your target audience: You need to know what type of visitor you are targeting before you can choose the right safelist for your needs. You need to take into account your current subscribers, if any. If you do not have any current subscribers then you need to make an educated guess as to the type of visitor that you wish to target, I would suggest you target around your chosen niche.
  • Set yourself a budget and stick to it: There are some free safelists, however, for any decent quality safelist you will have to pay, it may not be a lot but it all adds up, so be sure to keep to your budget. Take into account the conditions that your chosen safelist has, for example, a group of safelists may cost you $25 but they may only allow you to use the list once, but there may be a similar group for $50 that allows you to send as many times as you please, in the long run the $50 group will be the most cost effective.
  • Do your homework: It is really important that you read the small print that comes with these safelists, some of these safelists have restrictions and limitations that they may not make obvious. Read all the details so you can email with the confidence that it won’t get you in bother.


The Pros and The Cons

This is a great way to be able to do a quick mass emailing, but on the downside, you should probably expect to receive a large number of other members emails, if you choose to use this resource, I would recommend you set up a separate email address that is solely for this purpose, unless of course you like reading hundreds of emails!

The other drawback to using these groups is that they may not have enough members, or should I say enough members who read their emails, to provide you with a steady stream of paying customers, after a while, these same members grow tired of seeing the same email over and over, so this is not really the best marketing venue in my opinion. However, I do know that some very big online marketers have started out using this method so maybe if you read into it enough you could get lucky.

There are a number of keyword research tools that can help you find them.

WordTracker keyword suggestion tool is free and easy to use.

For example if you type ‘Computer’, the WordTracker search suggestion tool will tell you that during the last month the word ‘Computer’ was searched, say for example 45955 times. Similarly ‘computer game’ was searched 30221 times.

Also, given one word it will tell you all relevant combinations of that word, which are based on actual searches done by people. If the word you keyed in is not a common search term then you will not get any results. It means that very few people have actually searched for that word during the last month.

Even Google Keyword Tool generates potential keywords for your ad campaign and reports their Google statistics, including search performance and seasonal trends.

Using Keywords In Page Titles

It is recommended to use keywords in page titles itself. This title tag is different from a Meta tag, but it’s worth considering it in relation to them.

Whatever text one places in the title tag (between the <title> and </title> portions) will appear in the title bar of browsers when they view the web page.

Some browsers also append whatever you put in the title tag by adding their own name, as for example Microsoft’s Internet Explorer or OPERA.

The actual text you use in the title tag is one of the most important factors in how a search engine may decide to rank your web page. In addition, all major web crawlers will use the text of your title tag as the text they use for the title of your page in your listings.

If you have designed your website as a series of websites or linked pages and not just a single Home Page, you must bear in mind that each page of your website must be search engine optimized. The title of each page i.e. the keywords you use on that page and the phrases you use in the content will draw traffic to your site.

The unique combination of these words and phrases and content will draw customers using different search engine terms and techniques, so be sure you capture all the keywords and phrases you need for each product, service or information page.

The most common mistake made by small business owners when they first design their website is to place their business name or firm name in every title of every page.

Actually most of your prospective customers do not bother to know the name of your firm until after they have looked at your site and decided it is worth book marking.

So, while you want your business name in the title of the home page, it is probably a waste of valuable keywords and space to put it in the title line of every page on your site.

Why not consider putting keywords in the title so that your page will display closer to the top of the search engine listing.

Dedicating first three positions for keywords in title avoiding the stop words like ‘and’, ‘at’ and the like is crucial in search engine optimization.

1. Purchase the branding rights to a viral E-book. Allow people to give away your free E-book to their visitors. Then, their visitors will also give it away. This will just continue to spread your ad all over the Internet.

2. If you have the ability to set up a forum or other bulletin board, you really have a great tool. Allow people to use your online discussion board for their own website. Some people don’t have one. Just include your banner ad at the top of the board.

3. Do you have a knack for web design? Create some templates, graphics, etc. and upload them to your site. Then, allow people to give away your free web design graphics, fonts, templates, etc. Just include your ad on them or require people to link directly to your web site. Make sure that you include a link back to your site in the copyright notice and require them to keep your copyright notice in tact.
