Begin With The End In Mind

Successful marketing tactics begin with the end in mind. After all, if you don’t know exactly where you are going, how do you expect to know how to get there? That makes it essential to understand exactly what the customer wants and anticipate their needs long before they begin a search for a product or service.

Ask yourself these two questions

1. How do you really know how to visualise the future?

2. What can you do to turn your small business into a huge business with high profits, high conversions, and high profits?

Start by knowing your customer.

This is the prime marketing tactic that every marketer must know, believe, and understand. It’s not enough to have a general knowledge of the market and the customer. It’s vital to know the audience and relate directly to their needs. It’s about anticipating their next move and then their next move after that.

And it’s about appealing to their emotional needs.

Understanding the customer begins with a clear picture of who they are and what key characteristics they share. It is those key characteristics or idiosyncrasies that make them the best prospects for your product or service. That’s why they are so important to your future success – because they have a need for what you have to offer.

Once you are able to clearly identify the customer and what they want, it’s essential to craft and create a message that speaks directly to them. A general message about a product and the features it offers is never enough.

Customers want to know “what’s in it for me”.

They are seeking value and looking for benefits or products. Your message must clearly articulate the benefits and advantages of what you have to offer. The message must appeal directly to the customer’s needs and appeal to him in a very unique way.

What are most customers looking for in terms of benefits?

People are always looking to save both time and money. If they can find a product that saves time, fills a need, and is appropriately priced, they will buy it.

They’ll even pay more for a product if they truly believe it offers significant or multiple benefits over other similar products. They’re not as interested in features as they are benefits so focus the message towards their emotional buying needs. And don’t be afraid to highlight multiple benefits of a product to really engage the customer.

In today’s fast-paced world and advanced technology, people are always looking for the best and the fastest. They are also looking for ease of purchase. Marketing tactics must respond to this need and your message must be emotionally appealing and soundly convincing.

Back it up!

But just as importantly, be sure you can back up your claims of benefits and value to the customer. It’s not just a customer you want to attract. It’s a ‘repeat customer’ that can help your business soar too. Provide the customer with quality products and follow-up to make sure they are satisfied. Learn from your customers and use that valuable knowledge to anticipate the next need that will surface from customers.

Proactively create a marketing plan that integrates multiple marketing tactics to help ensure optimal success. Deploying effective tactics will quickly result in higher conversions and more sales. And with more sales, you’ll have a thriving business that grows exponentially as word spreads virally about your products and service.

Don’t under-estimate the value of utilising proven, successful marketing tactics when it comes to marketing your products. Know where you want to go before you start the journey. Start with the end in mind.

Envision success and visualise the sale. Take advantage of tried and proven tactics to create a successful business and a secure future.

Success awaits those who can see ahead of the crowd, so always begin with the end in mind.

Becoming The Credible Authority

Becoming the CredibleAuthority for marketing success is the number one thing that any individual or business must do.

Online users are searching the Internet for information, products, and services every minute of every day. With the intense competition and wealth of information available on the Internet today, people do not want to spend their time visiting a site that they do not believe is high quality, a credible authority one, and worthy of their time. They will allow you just a few seconds to grab their attention and that starts the beginning of the relationship, or breaks it.

Proven marketing tactics become increasingly valuable today with the increased competition and skepticism of many web users. If visitors do not perceive a site is high integrity, they quickly click their heels and scamper to another website because they know there are many more.

But people who believe your site has something valuable to offer and that is highly credible will stay around long enough to learn more. They’ll search your content for more information and as they become more intrigued by the content they begin to trust you and what you have to say. If you’ve deployed a marketing tactic that establishes your credibility, you are ahead of the race.

Think about your own buying patterns. If you do not believe you can trust a business, you are most likely to avoid stopping by to browse the products. It doesn’t matter if the business is offline or online. You want to know that you are talking to an expert in the niche.

And that’s how online web users feel too.

There are too many credible resources for them to waste their time on a site that does not meet their expectations of quality and credibility.

So, exactly how do you increase your authority and credibility to attract a wider audience?

First of all, you must position yourself as an authority and as someone who truly understands what the customer needs. You must quickly develop a sense of becoming a credible authority by including valuable information, data, statistics, and compelling content on your website. It’s not just about the product you have to offer, but it’s about your own ability to respond to their needs and questions.

And it’s about your personal experience with the particular niche.

Having credentials related to a particular field can go a long way towards increasing credibility.

But so can experience and connections through a network of similar experts. Many marketers fear the mention of other experts in their field because they assume they will lose business to them. But people appreciate a marketer who is confident enough to talk about others who offer solutions. It actually increases your credibility and helps build a sense of loyalty.

When people know they can come to you for answers and that you will also redirect them to other credible resources, they are most likely to see you as a partner. Having relevant links to reputable websites that also offers information and solutions on a particular niche actually increases your credibility as an expert in the field.

In today’s world of technology, people have a vast array of resources available to them through the Internet. They don’t have to settle for one product or service anymore. They have freedom and flexibility to shop around and if they do not believe your site or products are credible, they will do exactly that.

Before you lose another customer to the click of a mouse, check your own content and information to see if it exudes confidence and credibility. If not, it’s time for an over-haul of marketing tactics that position you as an expert in the field.

Marketing tactics that include positioning yourself as the credible authority are more likely to land you at the finish line as the winner.

Authority Branding

Why Branding Yourself As An Authority Is So Important.

imagesBranding is extremely important as the average consumer is spoilt for choice and only the best will do. Now, you may not have the greatest product in the world, yet you can position yourself as the an authority with a few good marketing strategies.

What makes you different from the guy down the street? In order to succeed in whatever field that you are in, do you know that you need to establish yourself as some kind of authority on the product or service that you are providing?

People in the 21st century are inherently skeptical because there are a thousand and one other brands out there. It is much harder to acquire a new customer than it is compared to keeping an existing one. When you have the expert branding, people are more likely to treat you as an authority and listen to every word you say rather than treating you like a sleazy salesman trying to get into their pockets.

Branding yourself also gives you tremendous CONFIDENCE! After all, when people listen to you and they take notes, you know you’ve hit the jackpot!

Building Your Credibility

imgresCredibility is very closely associated with branding. Branding will help you to get the first sale, but your credibility is what keeps people coming back for MORE! When you have built your credibility in your business as a trusted brand, it takes far less time to get repeat sales from existing customers and the people they refer compared to convincing them from scratch.

Don’t look down on the customer with a buying power of $3 or less. A customer that spends $3 over a period of 2 years can amount to a lot of money. Furthermore, they are likely to recommend other customers to your doorstep!

Remember the story about the foolish milkman? The foolish milkman refuses to service a young chap who lives far down the street. He thinks that it is not worth the trouble. He doesn’t realize that that young chap will someday get married and have 3-4 kids who will consume much more milk somewhere down the line! Never ever discount a single customer! And that’s not all, when you are credible, you become the ‘go to’ guy when people think of the product or service that you are offering (therefore saving you time and money in acquiring new clients and customers)

Is Your Business Scalable?

Scalability is very important. You can’t do everything by yourself as you only have 24 hours in a day. Can you leverage or outsource your tasks?

In any business model, you must be able to find a business model that scales upwards. In other words, it means that the business will earn you more money the longer you are in that industry. If the business or the market that you are in requires you to work longer and longer for the same amount of pay, then you either need to innovate a new idea or get out of it as soon as possible.

Build Your Business Flexibly!

Nothing is permanent in the 21st century. Now it is not about the strongest that survives but rather the one that adapts to changes quickly! You must be able to adapt quickly to market changes like rising costs and changes in the demand. If you are not good at adapting, you will miss out on a lot of opportunities. You don’t want to start changing only when you are running out of money or when all your customers have ran away to your competitors! By then it would be too late!

Discover The email Xfactor

imagesIn this post I will show you ten ways to become an email xfactor creator, and give the sort of message your readers will love and want to read, and beg for more from you.

I am sure you have heard the saying, “the money’s in the list” and well it is true, sort of.

If your subscribers are engaged, you will encourage a good percentage to invest in your services. The key word here is IF. Just because someone has downloaded your lead magnet doesn’t mean they’ll buy anything, and that’s why email marketing needs your urgent attention.

Allow me to explain

It’s all very well creating a stack of great free blogs, articles, and ebooks, but you’re not going to get very far unless you encourage the audience to buy, and that’s where email fits perfectly into your marketing mix.

Think about it for a moment,

imagesIf you’re selling a big purchase decision, it’s unlikely someone will be buy the first time they encounter you or your site. Instead, you need to nurture that relationship. You need to build your ‘know, like, trust factor’ and draw the right people into your world.

That’s the power of the inbox.

It enables you to show up – invited – and have a personalised, private conversation with your perfect customer. Then, if you use the right mix of email angles, it won’t be long until you’re turning your audience into clients.

Here are ten angles to try and gain email xfactor results:

1. Build your know, like, trust factor

First things first… Are you making the best possible first impression?

It’s well worth reviewing what you send new subscribers when they first join your list. You need to get your relationship onto the right foot and the first few emails are key. That’s because:

New subscribers have got a high attention rate (because they’ve just discovered your stuff and are keen to know more) What you say will lay the framework and the expectations for what comes next a know, like, trust campaign can work well here. As well as telling new subscribers what to expect from you, an autoresponder series can help you:

Build authority: by sharing with subscribers more about who you are, what you do, and why they should listen to your message
Build like-ability: In this age of personal brands who you are is just as important as what you know, so share some personality through stories and anecdotes so your subscribers can get to know the real you
Build trust: With testimonials or case studies and you show social proof that proves to your subscribers that you’re the real deal

2. Sell the next step

Often subscribers joined your list because your lead magnet offered some information they wanted or solved a challenge they were struggling with.

The next step is to change the relationship from audience to customer by enticing the subscriber to buy something. This is the job of your engagement series. This can follow your know, like, trust campaign and can nudge you ‘next step’ offer (whatever that is for your business).

3. Showcase your expertise with personality

The bulk of your emails should be story-based and used to share your core message and your unique interpretation of your niche.

You want to soft teach. This means sharing the theory, but not always the nitty-gritty of how it’s actually done. Remember, your emails are there to build desire and create an itch so that subscribers want to work with YOU.

Personality is key. When you’re selling a service, which you deliver personality, you have to show up in your emails as you. After all, you want people to connect with you. You want your subscribers to want to do business with you. That’s why you need to let people into your world – and sharing anecdotes and stories from your everyday (wrapped up in a business message) will help you to do this.

4. Invite conversations

One-way conversations don’t tend to lead very far, so use email to invite people to get in touch with you.

For example, create some simple surveys, ask questions, and invite feedback. Getting subscribers to engage is a great way to strengthen relationships AND find out more about what they want.

5. Publicise your blog, webinar, event

Whether you’re running a webinar, speaking at an event, or published something new on your blog, ping an email to your list.

The purpose of this type of email Xfactor is simple, you are selling the link and so curiosity is the key. This highly effective strategy can drive high-quality traffic to your latest thing and provide an extra touch point to persuade people to work with you.

6. Promote an offer

The money is most definitely in your list when you can invite people to buy your latest offer. Just get the balance right. You don’t want every email to focus on a sell. Similarly, you don’t want to never ask people to buy. If your list sees your emails as value only and then you make them an offer, they’ll get upset! That’s why it’s smart to train your audience to expect offers right from the start.

When you get into the habit of sending regular emails to your list, the rewards are huge. From making more sales to boosting your credibility, with a tribe of engaged subscribers eager to read your content, your business will be transformed.

7. Attract interest

Why do tickets for the likes of Glastonbury & other music festivals sell out in minutes?

The answer is in the build up. Tickets don’t just go on general sale. Instead, in advance of the event, festival lovers are invited to show their interest and say how many tickets they want. And whilst this doesn’t guarantee a ticket, it does help the show’s organisers to become oversubscribed. After all, how many people are left disappointed on release day because they’re not one of the lucky ones?

If you have a waiting list of people wanting to work with you, it means you can be more selective over the clients you choose. There are lots of advantages to this way of working. For example, you can handpick the clients you know you can best help – as a result, you’ll probably do a better job. You can also launch availability at staged intervals throughout the year, so you are not always on the hunt for new customers, and yes you will gain the email xfactor with this.

8. Share a Q & A

Answering real questions in an email format achieves a number of things:

You showcase your knowledge and expertise in a useful way.
You prove to your subscribers that you’re listening, that you’re approachable, and you want to help.
You show you have an audience!
You’ll find this is an easy strategy to turn those conversations you have with clients into useful stories that can raise your profile and help you sell more.

9. Inspire your audience

Share a good news story, an a-ha moment, or a little gem that could uplift your subscribers and help them get a even closer to what ever it was that caused them to join your list in the first place!

10. Piggyback

Whether it’s a special event or some celebrity or sporting news, crafting topical emails that are topical (around themes that interest your subscribers) can be a highly effective way to enter topical conversations, show you’re relevant, and start a conversation. For example, the talent show Xfactor worked with the headline of this blog post, email Xfactor, didn’t it?

The Magnificent 7 Content Marketing Tips

I am always looking for creative ways to clearly communicate with my audience, and while I regularly test new things, it’s easy to get caught up in a routine instead of stopping for a moment and trying out something new. There is risk involved in moving your content marketing in a different direction, but if you know your audience well, you can experiment with them. Your content can be universally appealing to them while trying a different approach.

imagesThe great thing about a failed content marketing approach is that it teaches you a lesson about what your target audience responds to, about what they want to see, about your voicing and your approach. However, it takes making a risk with your content approach to learn these invaluable lessons. I know this because I have spent a lot of time failing. These failure gave me the information I needed to really succeed.

In spite of my many failures, I found a few channels that consistently gave me powerful returns. Here are my top seven recommended marketing methods.

Tip 1: Creative lists
Some of the best content that marketers can offer their audiences is through a creative list. This is the classic Buzzfeed mentality. But even Buzzfeed is not committed to a mindless list.

Rather, a really great list provides invaluable, insightful information in a fun way. Consider a pest control company that gives its audience a list of the top bugs to look out for in the summer. Identify what you can uniquely offer your customers and then come up with a creative list to showcase your expertise in a fun way.

Tip 2: Live video
Video is becoming more relevant and trendy than ever among social users and this is one area that content marketers really should be investing in to get their messaging in front of potential customers.

Customers want an inside look at your company. They want exclusive access to their brand and producing a live video will give them that access. For Video Marketing tips check out this blog post.

Tip 3: Spin-off audiences
As a content marketer, you need to know your target audience like you know your closest relative or your best friend. You need to know who they are, how old they are, what they like to buy, and most importantly, what their additional interests are. From there, you can identify spin-off audiences that may be interested in your products and services.

Do target audience research using Google Analytics and surveys, and then identify the other audiences you can reach out to online to begin pushing your messages.

Tip 4: Have an eye for traffic
There are sites out there already that you can use to your advantage because of the sheer number of users they get. For example, consider the amount of traffic to sites like Etsy or IMDb.

If you can write unique content for one of these sites with high traffic, then you can send those users back to your website. You just need to make sure that what you are selling relates to one of these big sites.

Tip 5: Utilise LinkedIn
Expand your social stretch to sites like LinkedIn, where you can post valuable business advice that relates to your company and brand. LinkedIn users are business-minded, and they want tips that will push them forward in their careers.

If you can create content that fits in that category, you can drive them to your website. Think creatively about how your products can aid them and make life easier for their work lives and careers.

Tip 6: Start snapping
Snapchat is becoming one of the most trendy and popular social networks to reach Millennials. You can introduce your brand and messaging in fun and compelling ways through the function of the Snapchat “story.”

It’s important, however, that your content marketing does not appear to be promotional. What you are really trying to do is give your users that immediate, live look into what matters about your business. You want to create energy around your brand and show those younger users why it matters that they have you in their lives.

Tip 7: See where your audience is on social
imgresIf you’re thinking about expanding your social platforms to beyond the traditional or trendy ones, then try to find out first where your target audience is on social. One great resource is a site called Buzzsumo.

You can type in a keyword related to your business, and Buzzsumo will tell you what the most shared content is related to that keyword and where it is popular on social media networks.

Conclusion
In conclusion, if you’re not using these seven content marketing tips to get the most profitable return you can, then you’re missing out on easy ways to make big changes for your brand.

These seven areas often go untapped in our field because they are not the most popular or visible approaches. But sometimes, what your customers need is a surprise or a shift in your content marketing in order to really get their attention.

When users hear the same messaging over and over agai or if they become too accustomed to just one mode for your content marketing, such as a video then you’re setting them up to expect too much regularity from you. Shake up your content marketing with these seven tips and determine what failures can turn into successes over time. You’ll be glad you tried.

Secrets Of Network Marketing

life-u-want

If you feel unsatisfied with your line of work, or that there is a better way of making a living because you have more to offer then the good news is that there is a better way, but it is very different from what you learned in school it is known as Network Marketing.

Network marketing can be summed up as a business opportunity for those with limited time on their hands. People that would love to make a full-time living at a part-time level. Some of the best-known companies in the world like Avon and Tupperware fall under the network marketing umbrella.

imagesBelow you will discover the 9 time-proven secrets used by top money earners in the industry today.

1 – Network Marketing Professionals Know Their Target Market

You MUST understand your audience best suited for your small business opportunity. You must be in touch with their needs, there inner most desires for change. You must know what drives them to want to better their life.

Knowing the people that would like to lead a different, more satisfying life will help you succeed in network marketing.

2 – Have Your “Why” Established.

This is very important. This is your major driving force, your reason WHY you decided to make a move and become a network marketer. It could be family, financial freedom or even time freedom. Make sure it is strong and you have it written down in a place that you can look at it on those days when speed bumps seem to appear around every corner.

If your ‘Why’ isn’t big enough to keep you driven, then I am sorry to let you know, statistics state that the chances of you continuing on are NOT in your favour.

3 – Network Marketers Do NOT Chase Family and Friends.

One of the first things that most network marketing companies have you do, when you join them, is ask you to create a list of ALL your family and friends so you can reach out to them with your home-based business opportunity. This list of names is known as your warm market.

The worst thing you could ever do for your personal life and friendships would be to make your future meetings awkward. It is suggested to leave your friends and family approach tucked away, for just a little while, at least until you understand proper network marketing prospecting and recruiting better (if you have the support and backing of an experienced network marketer there with you, then go for it).

To make it clear, DO NOT EVER chase, beg, guilt or even attempt to convince anyone, especially your warm market to join your opportunity. When you decide the time is right and your approach is warranted, it is suggested by the network marketing pros to see if your family or friends are open to your home-based, small business opportunity.

The network marketing professional will never chase their family members or friends attempting to convince them that this is the best opportunity to cross their paths since the invention of the wheel.

4 – Choose ONLY a Couple of Marketing Strategies to Master at a Time.

Don’t overwhelm yourself with trying to accomplish too many marketing projects at one time. Like any network marketing business, there is a learning curve to overcome, so be patient and hang in there. It is common-place to get discouraged, but your success will be won through tenacity and perseverance.

Even if you are not seeing the results that you want in your network marketing business, don’t give up. Some days will be tougher than others… keep in mind that virtually every network marketing pro had thoughts of doubt at one time or another, but they kept pushing on, which brings me to my next tip.

  3. What are my strengths and weaknesses? Concentrate on what you are good at, outsource what you struggle with even if it costs money, speculate to accumulate.
  4. What skills do I need to learn to improve on to run my business effectively? Never be afraid to learn new things or ask for help, remember the only silly question is the one never asked.

Compete against yourself only, strive to be the best you can be day by day.
  11. Have I established business goals? Setting goals is a very important part of any business plan, but that is only a small part of the picture, achieving goals is the most important thing. To do this you need to take small steps to accomplish your goals, break them down to make them easier to achieve.
  12. Am I a self starter? When it’s your business you are in control, you have no one to answer to, no one to tell when and how to do things, so perhaps this section should be titled, are you motivated! How To Overcome Writers Block

So what exactly is writers block?

writers block“Well, I just can’t think of a single thing to say, let alone write about, my mind is a blank. Oh well, I’ll go and do something else instead.”

Does that sound familiar?

We have all experienced this phenomenon when we absolutely have to write something, particularly on a deadline. I’m talking about. . . . .uh, I can’t think of what the word is . . oh, yes, it’s on the tip of my tongue . . . it’s: WRITER’S BLOCK!!!!

Whew! I feel better just getting that out of my head and onto the page!

Writer’s block is the patron demon of the blank page. You may think you know EXACTLY what you are going to write, but as soon as that evil white screen appears before you, your mind suddenly goes completely blank. I’m not talking about stare at the wall until enlightenment hits kind of blank.

I’m talking about sweat trickling down the back of your neck, anguish and panic and suffering kind of blank. The tighter the deadline, the worse the anguish of writer’s block gets.

Having said that, let me say it again. “The tighter the deadline, the worse the anguish of writer’s block gets.” Now, can you figure out what might possibly be causing this horrible plunge into speechlessness? The answer is obvious: FEAR! You are terrified of that blank page. You are terrified you have absolutely nothing of value to say. You are afraid of the fear of writers block itself!

It doesnt necessarily matter if you’ve done a decade of research and all you have to do is string sentences you can repeat in your sleep together into coherent paragraphs. Writers block can strike anyone at any time. Based in fear, it raises our doubts about our own self-worth, but it’s sneaky. It’s writer’s block, after all, so it doesn’t just come and let you know that. No, it makes you feel like an idiot who just had your frontal lobes removed through your sinuses. If you dared to put forth words into the greater world, they would surely come out as gibberish!

writers blockLet’s try and be rational with this irrational demon. Let’s make a list of what might possibly be beneath this terrible and terrifying condition.

1. Perfectionism. You must absolutely produce a
masterpiece of literature straight off in the first
draft. Otherwise, you qualify as a complete failure.

2. Editing instead of composing. There’s your
monkey-mind sitting on your shoulder, yelling as soon
as you type “I was born,” no, not that, that’s wrong!
That’s stupid! Correct correct, correct?

3. Self-consciousness. How can you think, let alone
write, when all you can manage to do is pry the
fingers of writer’s block away from your throat enough
so you can gasp in a few shallow breaths? You’re not
focusing on what you’re trying to write, your focusing
on those gnarly fingers around your windpipe.

4. Can’t get started. It’s always the first sentence
that’s the hardest. As writers, we all know how
EXTREMELY important the first sentence is. It must be
brilliant! It must be unique! It must hook your
reader’s from the start! There’s no way we can get
into writing the piece until we get past this
impossible first sentence.

5. Shattered concentration. You’re dog is sick. You
suspect your mate is cheating on you. Your electricity
might be turned off any second. You have a crush on
someone. You have a dinner party
planned for your in-laws. You . . . Need I say more.
How can you possibly concentrate with all this mental
clutter?

6. Procrastination. It’s your favorite hobby. It’s your soul mate.

FACE IT,  IT IS ONE OF THE REASONS YOU HAVE WRITERS
BLOCK!

How to Overcome Writers Block

Okay. I can hear that herd of you running away from
this article as fast as you can. Absurd! you huff.
Never in a million years, you fume. Writer’s block is
absolutely, undeniably, scientifically proven to be
impossible to overcome.

Oh, just get over it! Well, I guess it’s not that
easy. So try to sit down for just a few minutes and
listen. All you have to do is listen, you don’t have
to actually write a single word.

Ah, there you all are again. I am beginning to make
you out now that the cloud of dust is settling.

I am here to tell you that WRITERS BLOCK CAN BE
OVERCOME.

There are ways to trick this nasty demon. Pick one,
pick several, and give them a try. Soon, before you
even have a chance for your heartbeat to accelerate,
guess what, you are writing.

Here are some tried and true methods of overcoming
writer’s block:

1. Be prepared. The only thing to fear is fear itself.
I know, that’s a cliche, but as soon as you start
writing, feel free to improve on it. If you spend
some time mulling over your project before you
actually sit down to write, you may be able to
circumvent the worst of the crippling panic.

2. Forget perfectionism. No one ever writes a
masterpiece in the first draft. Don’t put any
expectations on your writing at all! In fact, tell
yourself you’re going to write absolute garbage, and
then give yourself permission to happily stink up your
writing room.

3. Compose instead of editing. Never, never write your
first draft with your monkey-mind sitting on your
shoulder making snide editorial comments. Composing is
a magical process. It surpasses the conscious mind by
galaxies. It’s even incomprehensible to the conscious,
editorial, monkey-mind. So prepare an ambush. Sit down
at your computer or your desk. Take a deep breath and
blow out all your thoughts. Let your finger hover over
your keyboard or pick up your pen. And then pull a
fake: appear to be about to begin to write, but
instead, using your thumb and index finger of your
dominant hand, flick that little annoying ugly monkey
back into the barrel of laughs it came from. Then jump
in quickly! Write, scribble, scream, howl, let
everything loose, as long as you do it with a pen or
your computer keyboard.

4. Forget the first sentence. You can sweat over that
all-important one-liner when you’ve finished your
piece. Skip it! Go for the middle or even the end.
Start wherever you can. Chances are, when you read it
over, the first line will be blinking its little neon
lights right at you from the depths of your
composition.

5. Concentration. This is a hard one. Life throws us
so many curve balls. How about thinking about your
writing time as a little vacation from all those
annoying worries. Banish them! Create a space, perhaps
even a physical one, where nothing exists except the
single present moment. If one of those irritating
worries gets by you, stomp on it like you would an
ugly bug!

6. Stop procrastinating. Write an outline. Keep your
research notes within sight. Use someone else’s
writing to get going. Babble incoherently on paper or
on the computer if you have to.

Just do it! Tack up anything that could possibly help
you to get going: notes, outlines, pictures of your
grandmother. Put the cookie you will be allowed to eat
when you finish your first draft within sight ? but
out of reach. Then pick up the same type of writing
that you need to write, and read it. Then read it
again. Soon, trust me, the fear will slowly fade away.
As soon as it does, grab your keyboard, and get
writing!
