Turbo Charge Your Marketing Efforts

Marketing expansion is of paramount importance, below are some influential tools to turbo charge your marketing efforts. In previous years it may have been enough just to put your content onto the web and let it speak for itself. In today’s world, however, it’s seen as a smart move to put some elbow grease into marketing your campaigns.

“Marketing budgets are trending for 2015” with an estimated 79% of surveyed digital marketing participants stating they plan on increasing their digital marketing budgets for the year. Not all marketing game plans need to have a budget comparable to that of Fortune 500 companies to pack a punch. If you’re savvy about process and tools, a little goes a long, long way.

Use These Tools to Breathe Life into Your Campaign:

Oktopost

Social media is a simple yet highly effective way of getting your name and brand out there. Managing this information shouldn’t be difficult either. Oktopost gives you the ability to manage where your content gets distributed. It allows you to access information on multiple social media platforms or profiles that you hold. Knowing exactly who your content is reaching and through which outlets gives you the ability to see where your strengths are in your marking campaigns. Since social is really useless without metrics to track success, Oktopost is a godsend.

Mention

Mention is a great tool for you to use to monitor where, and by who, you are being mentioned on the web. It accesses several platforms including social media outlets, blogs, forums, and virtually any other web pages your name may pop up on. Not only does it track your business, but also your competitors. Mention provides you a one up by giving you the opportunity to always stay in the loop, in real time, thus allowing you to gain access to more customers.

Kissmetrics

Kissmetrics can provide answers to questions such as:

Which particular marketing campaign is leading visitors to your site?
Which aspects of your page are visitors drawn to and access before deciding to become clients?
When it comes to search terms, which ones are giving you the most traffic to your site?
In what ways are you potentially losing future clients?

What are the commonalities between people who have decided to become clients?

Kissmetrics is able to offer answers to these types of questions and more. They will give you insight as a company on which marketing campaigns are working, which ones aren’t, and how to future promote yourself based on factors that converted visitors into clients. Kissmetrics works with both large scale and small business, so they have options for everyone.

Socedo

If you are looking to engage fresh faces into your social media campaigns, Socedo can be the answer. All that is required is for you to enter in data such as hashtags or keywords, who you are looking to target, and the purpose of your search. Socedo then produces a list of potential prospects based on these specifications. This allows you to follow up on new leads and also propels them to your currently active landing pages.

ReferralSnip

Ever heard of a little company called Dropbox? Well they can thank their success in large part due to “referral marketing“. It’s fairly easy, and companies such as ReferralShip allow you to create your own referral programs. It’s a creative way to get people to promote you and word of mouth can spread like wildfire.

BuzzSumo

It’s important to know which content is captivating your audience, and which is not interesting them at all. Enter BuzzSumo, a company that focuses on bringing you this data. Simply enter in metrics such as keywords or links and BuzzSumo conjures up a report with details on how content related to these folks was previously received.

FullContact

Knowing who your clients are on a personal level allows you to be more focused when it comes to creating marketing campaigns. The tricky part is gathering all the personal information associated with this. This is where FullContact steps in.

FullContact provides information such clients’ real names, links to their social profiles, and even their photo. Having access to these details gives you the opportunity to cultivate a more intimate and a lasting relationship with your clients.

Other Methods to Spice Up Your Marketing Efforts

Produce More Video Content

Last year, video was one of the leading trends in marketing. It’s projected that by 2017 close to 75% of all digital marketing will be through video. By getting a head start now, you’ll be ahead of the curve once video takes over nearly ¾ of the traffic in just a few years.

Come Up With a Game Plan

This may not be the most exciting idea, but it’s critical to success. Being organized with your ideas and clear on how to execute them will make a world of difference. It gives you the ability to look at the year ahead and plan accordingly. Be sure to stay focused on your plan and don’t stray from the path.

So What Does This Mean for the Future?

By employing these tools and ideas, your business has the ability to grow and reach more clients than ever before. The main idea here is to be creative and try new tactics! A popular and successful marketing campaign is exciting and also engages its viewers. Remember, blaze your own trail and don’t be afraid to try out fresh, unique concepts.

Why Spun Content Is Not Dead

A few days ago, I was reading an article about SEO rules. It was a great article. I’ve made some notes and bookmarked it as it might come in handy in the near future. However, there was one thing that I didn’t like. They claimed that spun content was dead. From now on, they said, you should manually rewrite ALL your articles. Is this the end of Internet Marketing as we know it?!

Not for me. I need TONS of content every day. I publish it on my 100+ websites. I build support sites. I set up Web 2.0 sites, I do social bookmarking… It’s simply IMPOSSIBLE to manually write that much content. Day in and day out.

Luckily, the author of the article is VERY wrong. It’s true that poorly spun content is dead. Google can detect it. Nothing new here.

But, if the content is spun with the ENL semantic spinning algorithm, Google can’t detect it. Why? Because it looks just like a native speaker had rewritten it. Here is an example of ENL algorithm’s work:

ORIGINAL TEXT

John can relax and read a book because his kids can book the vacation for him. Once it’s booked, he will enjoy an excellent movie and drink wine, beer, or whiskey.

GENERATED SPUN VARIATION

Since his kids can easily schedule the vacation for him, John can read a book and unwind. He will definitely enjoy an impressive film and drink draught beer, whiskey, or red wine once it’s reserved.

The Big Bing Is Happening

Allow me to inform you that the big Bing is happening right now, and here is how Bings SEO & Ranking Factors offer the greatest opportunity in SEO today

A lot of people do not pay attention to Bing SEO or ranking factors and purely focus on trying to rank in Google and nothing else. However over the last couple of years Bing’s market share has been slowly increasing as Microsoft try to challenge Google in the search arena.

If you were paying attention lately you will have noticed a fundamental shift in search that is going to affect us all.
“The Big Bing Has Already Happened”

I’m officially dubbing the term ‘The Big Bing’ to mark the day that a simple browser update changed the world of search forever. Mozilla released version 34 of its Firefox browser on the 1st of December 2014. At the very top of the release notes is a critical piece of information that is going to change the search landscape forever.

Firefox have removed Google as the default search engine and replaced it with Yahoo! If you didn’t know, it just so happens that Bing powers Yahoo’s search results.

Interestingly they also removed Google as the default search engine for Russia as well which suggests they might remove Google as the default from other country’s in the future.

What Does That Actually Mean?

Let me get straight to the point – US search share for Yahoo jumped from 9.64% to 29.4% overnight for users of the new Firefox. Google usage dropped from 82.14% to 63.46%. In 24 hours.

Is Bing Traffic Valuable?

I have heard lots of claim from people that Bing traffic isn’t worth as much, it doesn’t convert, people don’t buy things and so on.

So I decided to look at my own data to measure the quality of Bing traffic and this is what I saw-

bing-vs-google

That data tells me everything I need to know.

Traffic coming from Bing, has a lower bounce rate, more page visits, more time spent on site.
More Subscribes to my list and more affiliate links clicked.

Take a look at your own data before passing judgement though!

The Great Bing Advantage

The best thing about change, is people hate change. Change pushes people out of their comfort zones and humans are wired to avoid that. So for those that are willing to evolve with change there is a great opportunity here.

Since 1998 SEO’s have purely focused on ranking sites in Google, for 16 solid years Google has had the sole attention of nearly every single SEO on the planet. This had made Google’s search results highly competitive against people that have fine tuned their SEO skill sets for more than a decade. Bing however has been largely ignored, the general theory is that if you are ranking well in Google you will rank well in Bing too.

But that is not the case, the algorithms are very different, just compare search results for the same term and you will quickly see what I mean. So it is important that you understand those key differences to take advantage of ‘The Big Bing’ (it will catch on).

Bing Marketing Free Tools & Resources

So with that said and before we get into the top Bing ranking factors you need to familiarise yourself with all of the free Bing marketing tools & resources.

Unlike Google, Microsoft actually produce a number of very helpful tools & guidelines for Bing SEO.

It is also worth noting that Bing are very SEO friendly as evident from the tools they offer.

Bing Webmaster Guidelines

First of all you should have a read of the Bing Webmaster Guidelines and get yourself upto speed.

It is no way near as long/complicated as Google’s guidelines so it won’t take you long to read and absorb.

Bing Webmaster Tools

The Bing Webmaster Tools is superb – if you haven’t got your site setup in there yet do it now.

It provides an awesome suite of tools including a backlink explorer! You can also see exactly which keywords you rank for, how your site indexes, diagnose problems and much more.

As of right now you will also get $100 of free advertising credit to play with – sweet!

Bing SEO Analyzer

The Bing SEO Analyzer is also a great tool to discover if your pages are following Bing SEO best practices.

Just enter your URL and it will return a list of suggestions to improve your rankings across Bing & Yahoo.

Microsoft SEO Tool Kit

More of an unknown tool the free Microsoft SEO Tool Kit is a desktop application that spiders your website to find SEO problems.

It is very easy to use and well – it is 100% free so what is not to like!

Bing Webmaster Blog

Just like Google there is also a Bing Webmasters Blog which you should have a read through & subscribe to.

Some of the posts are actually quite entertaining and often have golden nuggets buried within!

Bing Search Quality Blog

Imagine if Matt Cutts and all of the Google search quality/anti spam team published a blog sharing what they’ve been trying & testing.

Well Bing do exactly that with their Search Quality Blog that offers some amazing insights into the world of search.

Contacting The Bing Webmaster Team

Last but not least, perhaps one of the best tools is the ability to contact the Bing webmaster team.

So if your site does have problems or gets hit for any reason you can easily get in touch with the team directly to work things out.

The Top Bing Ranking Factors

So what makes Bing tick at it’s core?

What are the key differences between ranking in Google & Bing?

User Engagement Is Very Important

One of the strongest signals in Bing is user engagement, having strong user engagement will increase your rankings in Bing.

They measure this through a term known as ‘pogo sticking’ which is when someone performs a search, clicks on a result and then clicks back to return to the search results.

If lots of people visit your site from the search results and click the ‘back’ button then this is a clear indication of poor user engagement to Bing.

However if lots of people visit your site from the search results and do not go back to them to continue searching – this is a very very strong signal.

Click Through Rates Matters

Bing also measures click through rates from it’s search result pages and uses that data combined with the user engagement data above to improve its results.

For example all things being equal, if the #1 position gets a 20% click through rate but the #2 position gets 40% – this is a clear indication that the #2 result is more relevant.

This means you have to write your titles and descriptions with humans in mind while being specific with your keyword. Think keyword based click bait.

Social Signals Do Matter

There is a lot of debate on whether social signals impact Google search rankings.

I can categorically tell you with 100% certainty that they do and I’ve been using them to rank consistently for the past 2 years. So rather than getting caught up in the change debate you should be making social signals a core part of your SEO strategy now. It affects you rankings in Google and it affects your rankings in Bing.

However Bing actually return posts from Facebook & Twitter embedded directly into search results that stand out from normal web results.

Bing has a much stronger reliance on social signals than Google – use that to your advantage and you will see benefits in both search engines.

Bing Authorship

Google introduced Authorship allowing people to claim content they have written so Google can determine who are the true experts in any given industry.

Granted they have removed the pretty little pictures from search results now, but Authorship is here to stay.

Bing has it’s own version of Authorship after they integrated Klout verified snapshots.

The Bing search results will then show-

Your LinkedIn summary
Other social profiles
Klout score
Influential topics
2 most influential moments from Twitter in the past 7 days
2 most influential posts from Instagram in the past 90 days.

You can also take advantage of the Bing connected pages feature.

Backlinks Are Less Important

It is important to note is that backlinks are less important in Bing then they are in Google.

If you compare the search results between Bing & Google you will notice that the top ranking sites in Bing have noticeably less backlinks.

However Bing does favour ‘editorial’ type links from within body content rather than coming from a sidebar, footer or list of links and site relevancy does matter.

Inbound Anchor Text Is More Important

Bing puts more emphasis on the anchor text usage than Google does. So if you want to rank for ‘Blue Widgets’ you need links that use the ‘Blue Widgets’ anchor text.

Bing isn’t as good as Google at keyword matching – so while Google does well with recogising synonyms and context around a keyword, Bing need spoon feeding specifically.

However the risk here is that over optimising your anchor text will trip the Google Penguin filter.

So the trick here is to make sure that the links coming from high authority sites focus on exact anchors while the other use a mix of anchor terms.

That will allow you rank in Bing while dodging Google Penguin.

Keyword Domains Matter

Having your keyword in your domain name will help you to rank in Bing easier. It isn’t critical but it does help.

However Google does have a filter for exact match domain names so it is best to use a domain that includes your keyword but isn’t an exact match.

The only problem with that is

Page Authority Is More Important

The other thing that you will notice when comparing search results is where Bing doesn’t place as much weight on backlinks, it does place weight on site authority.

It is much harder to rank a new domain in Bing than it is in Google. Having an aged domain will give you an extra leg up across Bing’s results.

So if you have an older domain that includes your keyword you are golden. If you just have an older domain your in a strong position as well. Where you don’t want to be is with a brand new domain.

PageRank Is Irrelevant

PageRank is a measurement of authority created in the early days of Google although it is not as relevant as it once was and hasn’t been updated for a long time now.

However it is important to note that Google PageRank does not seem to have any correlation with Bing rankings – makes sense.

Content & Keyword Density Is Important

Bing prefers sites that have lots of unique content. They place much higher value on longer more engaging content than shorter content.

Just like they are behind Google in how they process language in anchor text, the same applies to your content as well.

You need to feed Bing the specific keyword you want your page to rank for. It is much better to focus on 1 page per keyword with Bing, but again be careful you don’t trip Google Panda by offering duplicate content.

Also Bing trys to eliminate duplicate content at the point of indexing. Redudant content is recognized and eliminated from search result pages but may still be available in the index.

Site Structure & Code Is Important

Bing offer a few interesting pieces of advice around your site structure and coding.

First of all they advise that content should be organized close to the surface. In other words no content should be more than 3 clicks away from the homepage.

You should also use a broad to specific structure flow. So you might go with SEO > Link Building > Blog Networks or Garden > Furniture > Chairs for example.

General Onsite Optimisation

Onsite optimization is similar for Bing as it is to Google. You want to make sure your using meta title & description tags which include your exact match keyword.

Bing places a lot of emphasis on title tags but keep the user engagement signals in mind.

You should only have 1 H1 tag per page to establish the main topic then use the H2 and H3 tags to talk about sub topics.

It is also worth noting that sometimes Bing will swap out your meta description with your H1 tag in the search results so be creating with your headings – don’t just rely on exact match headings.

HTTPS Is Not A Ranking Factor

Google recently announced that HTTPS is now used as a ranking signal – although a very minor one.

Bing Lead Program Manager Vincent Wehren said that HTTPs is not a ranking factor and they would not bring it in because they don’t want to mess around with rankings based on a factor that has no real relevance.

HyperTracker – I use Hypertracker in conjunction with Google Analytics and Google Website Optimizer. Hypertracker allows you to setup seperate tracking links for each of your individual traffic sources so that you can see exactly how many visitors, subscribers, and sales are being generated from each traffic source. This allows you to quickly and easily identify which traffic
sources are producing the most results. If you’re not tracking you’re marketing then you’re flying blind. If you want to create a real business online you MUST track everything you do so that you know what’s working and what’s not working. You can then zone in on the high-leverage traffic sources which are producing the most results.

W3ROI – W3ROI is very similar to HyperTracker while adding some extra advantages for those who want to track their PPC campaigns.

Clicktale – Clicktale is a fascinating little tool that provides some very interesting insights into your business. Basically, Clicktale records how people navigate and interact with your website. It then creates visual reports that show where your visitors look, what parts of the page they’re clicking on, which parts they skip and how far down they scroll. This can help you optimize the designof the page for higher conversions.

Graphic Design:

99Designs.com – The #1 online marketplace for graphic design. 99designs allows you to post a graphic design contest where multiple designers compete for the winning bid. So you can get literally hundreds of people creating designs for you and you only pay the one that you decide upon. What I really like about 99designs is that you get to see lots of different approaches and variations on your graphic design project. So instead of just having one designer create a single design for you. You have multiple graphic designers coming up with LOTS of different variations and you get to choose the one you like best.

http://www.minisitegraphics.com/ – One of the best in the business. Sean has created designs for Ewen Chia, Jimmy D. Brown, Michael Rasmussen, Russell Brunson, and many others.

http://wowminisites.com/ – WowMiniSites creates GREAT looking graphics at a great price.

Video Creation:

Camtasia Studio – I use Camtasia for ALL of my video creation. It allows you to create professional videos and screen captures with ease. If you have never used it, then no problem as they have free to access video tutorials to walk you through everything you need to know to use the Camtasia system.

Tech Support:

Create Amazing Landing Pages

LPM-350x250-004Creating landing pages is a huge hassle for most marketers. You have choice: do it yourself, or hire a designer.

A designer can create a beautiful page for you, but he’ll also drain your budget. And every time you need a new page, you have to cough up more cash so your designer can afford his lattes.

The other option is to do it yourself. Problem is, it takes a lot of time to create these pages. You need some coding know-how to make them look good. And if you want to track your campaigns to see if your landing page is converting, then you need to get yourself a tracking tool or script.

It’s no wonder so many marketers only have a couple landing pages, even if they are leaving money on the table by doing so. It’s just too much work, too much time or too much money to put them together… at least if you’re going to do them right.

Until now…

Introducing the Landing Page Monkey web app, which takes away all the work by quickly and easily creating stunning landing pages with just a couple clicks of your mouse.

You don’t need to touch a single line of code. You don’t need to hire a programmer or a web designer. You don’t even need to download and install a script, since this is a web app.

All you have to do is log into your Landing Page Monkey dashboard, click your way through the user-friendly form, and in just five minutes you too can have a cutting-edge, high-converting and mobile-responsive landing page to build your mailing list or sell your products.

You can use these landing pages to get mailing list subscribers, webinar registrations, run contests and close more sales. If you need a polished sales page or a landing page with an opt-in form, Landing Page Monkey can create it lightning-fast.

Just look at this app’s features:

• Delivers highly customizable pages. You can quickly fine-tune your landing page to get just the right look and feel to seamlessly integrate with your site. LPM lets you change layouts, font colors, font styles, background graphics and even background videos to give your landing page a cutting-edge, polished design that’s sure to impress.

• Make changes on the fly. You can tweak your landing page without disrupting sales or sign ups, touching the code, or uploading anything. Just log into your dashboard, make your changes, and hit save to instantly update your pages.

• Works with all major email service providers, including Aweber, GetResponse and MailChimp and more.

• Works on your server or LPM will host your page for you. You can upload these pages to your own site, or save on bandwidth by letting LPM host the page for you at no extra charge. You don’t even need your own website to start building a mailing list with Landing Page Monkey!

• Tracks your campaigns. Landing Page Monkey tracks your impressions and mailing list sign ups so you can optimize your campaigns for maximum profits!

• 100% responsive, 0% errors. You never have to worry about faulty code throwing errors when Landing Page Monkey creates your pages – and that means 99% of all your visitors will see your landing page. Your pages will show up on all smart phones, tablets, laptops and other devices. Plus they’ve been rigorously tested to work across platforms, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer and other major browsers.

• Saves you time and money. In just minutes you’ll have a beautiful landing page that looks like it was created by a high-priced web designer. Plus LPM’s clone feature lets you replicate your favorite landing pages instantly and get them online fast.

• Get rid of tech headaches. This is a web-based app, so there is nothing to download, nothing to install, no fiddling with customizing scripts. Just log in and you’re ready to start creating pages instantly.

Listen, you won’t find a better, faster or easier way to create and publish landing pages. If you can point and click a mouse, you can create a landing page like a pro with Landing Page Monkey.
